Montreal, July 16, 2014 – PERTE DE SIGNAL is relocating this fall to Regroupement Pied Carre’s “pôle de création et de diffusion de Gaspé” in Mile-End. With the support of the City of Montreal, the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the art centre will open a new showcase space dedicated to the research, creation and distribution of digital art, and which will respond to the needs of local and foreign artists.
“This project is for the artists and community, but above all for the Montreal public who will have access to local and international works and practices,” affirms Robin Dupuis, Director of PERTE DE SIGNAL.
For more than fifteen years, PERTE DE SIGNAL has been supporting artistic research and creation. Faced with the evolution of technologies and the public, the centre has developed production spaces that showcase and facilitate the mediation of varied digital art practices. Adapted for digital creation, this new multi-purpose showcase space offers specialized high-quality equipment and state-of-the-art technologies. These spaces are supplied with up-to-date equipment and will include an Ultra HD post-production studio, an electronics workshop, a sound proof lab for performance and installation works and new projection technologies. In addition, an optimal capacity for hanging and presenting work will be provided. In these new spaces, PERTE DE SIGNAL will showcase the creation of digital art by Quebecois and international artists.
“Above all, we must thank those who believed in us and quickly carried out the reorganization of our centre, as well as the updating of our showcase studio. The great synergy of provincial and municipal partners, as well as those from the digital milieu, made it possible to carry out this innovative project for digital art in Montreal. Moreover, we are very proud to be joining Regroupement Pied Carré ‘s project Pi2 de Gaspé, which will become a crucial place for contemporary art in the country”, states Sofian Audry, President of PERTE DE SIGNAL.
This project is funded by the Government of Quebec and the City of Montreal. It is the result of a joint effort of public partners including the borough Plateau Mont-Royal, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Conseil des arts de Montréal along with artists and private enterprise.
